Luckily for us El Capitano didn't pay heed to the nay sayer "San Francisco" Dave who felt that the event should be postponed due to forecasted inclement weather, but as we all know our beloved Captain doesn't listen to a word that Dave says. Fortunately for us he believes that if a job is worth doing it's worth doing well regardless of the weather. As we all found out this was a very pleasurable golfing day on a good course.
A good turnout once again and some worthy golf was played it seems by many but not by all, eh Dave?
On advice from Kev Tyler regarding the standard scratch score we decided to put all the information on Old Fold Manor into the Datchworth Golf Society Handicap Calculating Machine© (a patented modern model), eat your heart out Bill Gates - we have the latest piece of kit! And this is what it came up with, unfortunately there was a malfunction and this is the only handicap it has produced thus far......
So winners on the day:
1st place - Philly the Kid - 34 points
2nd place - John Scarratt Jnr - 32 points (on countback)
3rd place - Dan Maguire - 32 points
Nearest the pin - El Capitano (hoorah)
Nearest the pin in two - John Scarratt Jnr
Team Winners - Vince, Philly, Andrew and Dave
Looks a bit wet there Dave??
Forthcoming golf events are as follows:
- Par 3 challenge (evening) to be arranged - date forthcoming from Postman Pat
- Tour - End of June
- Letchworth Golf Course - 28th July
- Brocket Hall (Melbourne Course) - 15th September - 32 places available
A June tour meeting between the committee is on the cards as it has been deemed there needs to be more help forthcoming from the touring members to make this a successful tour. As such some people may be appointed to a minor job by El Capitano or The Committee. If you are fortunate enough to be offered such a privileged position rest assured El Capitano will see it in a very favourable light. Turning down the job is not an option by the way!
Looking forward to the June tour.
When the handicap machine is fixed (putting in a call to NASA at the moment) the new handicaps will be published, however Philly's new handicap seems about right to me!
Over and out,
Jules & Danny (computer wizz, can't fix that bloody machine though!)
