So we arrived at the venue where it all started 5 years ago, we had a good turnout with a few new faces to join in the fun. Full English breakfast was top notch as usual and some of the golf was spectacular. The golf course was in fantastic condition and the weather was great so there should have been no excuses for low scores. However a few people playing in the rough more than on the fairway cost them dearly and there were plenty of balls knocked out of bounds.....
This was the event finale for the Captain's Challenge trophy and our beloved captain deemed it right and proper that they should play in the last group to add to the excitement and tension of the overall winner. Needless to say that the most consistent golfers of the year were in this group and therefore the team prize for the day was almost a foregone conclusion (perhaps a team handicap system ought to have been in place el Capitano?)
I am sure that most of the society members will forgive Our Captain for the small miscreant. He did however (as usual) deliver with the speeches afterwards and a few people who have misbehaved in his eyes were brought to task ( eh Dave B). I know the feedback from the day has been excellent and all who attended thoroughly enjoyed the day, and thanks to Rocky, and of course Steve who made this a very memorable day.
The scores on the day:
Captain's Trophy Champion : Dan Gatfield
First place: Dan Gatfield - 44 points

Numpty of the day: Glyn Davison
