Ok folks there was a relatively poor turnout for The Hertfordshire, but those that attended reported back that it was a great day out. Dave Brown again organised things and Rocky did a sterling job on the day sorting out the finances-so thanks to you guys. Unfortunately I was unable to make the day and your honourable Captain Mr Steve Corley ( nearly CBE ) oversaw things..........and made a bit of a hash of it from what I hear. Something about wrong trophies????
Anyway on the day Phil "The Kid" Herring saddled up with his array of golf clubs and rode off into the sunset with the 1st prize (again***~**###~~). Well done Phil. He played very well on the day and managed a magnificent 40 points. Steve Corley came second and that is all the info I know.
Ok on to the next golf day. It is at Whitehills again for the 2nd year Anniversary of the golf Society. Cost in the region of £40 for all the usuals and the date for your diaries is 12th July 2013. Arrive please at 9.30am.
We would appreciate replies quickly and in order that numbers are good Steve has promised to buy all those that attend a pint afterwards- Good Old Steve.
This is the official blog for Datchworth SC Golf Society. It will give you details of previous and up and coming golf events.

Next Golf Day - Friday 17th May at The Hertfordshire
The next golf day is nearly upon us and will be at a course some of us have played before, the Hertfordshire, near Broxbourne. This is a cracking course with really good greens and generally fair to all golfing abilities.
The cost for the day will be £45.00 which will include the usual Coffee/Bacon rolls, 18 holes of golf and
ham, egg and chips meal afterwards.
Hopefully this date will already be in your diaries but we still need to know numbers (there are 24 available). Please let Jules know your availability either way by the 10th May as numbers have to be confirmed to the gold course.
There is a drink up afterwards in Hertford, hopefully you can all get a pass out.

Results - Abbotsley 12th April 2013
On a fine yet sometimes wet day, 20 Datchworth golfing stalwarts turned out and treaded the fairways of Abbotsley GC. It was the usual array of good, bad and shocking (thanks for coming Ray). The golf course was in good condition and proved to be tricky at times which probably led to the lowish scores, only one player scoring over 36 points.
On a day that will be remembered more by the quality and uniqueness of the golf trophies rather than the golf itself Tom Wood came first with a cracking 40 points having tied his horse to the first tee and 5 furlongs back in second with 35 points was Danny Horne, tied with Jules on 35 (who lost on countback) who came third.
Tom Wood continued his winning ways by also bagging the longest drive and was joined by his father in the winners enclosure who came nearest the pin.
The winning team was made up of Tom Wood, Tim Mountain and John Coyle - who are all owed a bottle of wine!
Thanks again to our fantastic and exuberant Capitano Mr. Steve Corley (nearly CBE) for his eloquent after dinner speech and prize presentation...... and of course Dave Brown for organising the day - thank you.
